Limits and accuracy
Orihako works inside your browser, on your device's memory. These limits keep it reliable, and the notes on accuracy say where a result needs your eye.
File size and number of files
- One run takes up to 500 MB in total and up to 200 files; a single file can be up to 500 MB. Files beyond that are not added, and the page says so.
- On phones and tablets, about 200 MB in total is a sensible ceiling. Beyond it the device may run out of memory and the run stops with a message; your files are not changed, so try fewer or smaller ones.
- Damaged PDFs are repaired when possible, but some cannot be read. Password-protected PDFs need their password first.
Pages per run
- Text recognition (OCR): up to 200 pages per run; for the rest, choose the following pages and run again.
- PDF to images: up to 200 pages per run; for the rest, choose the following pages and run again.
- Compare two PDFs: the first 100 pages of the two files are compared.
- PDF to text: reads the first 400 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- PDF to Word: reads the first 400 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- Read a PDF aloud: reads the first 400 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- AI Mask a PDF: reads the first 400 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- Proofread (repeats, mixed spellings): reads the first 300 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- Check before sending: reads the first 300 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- Scanner-storage check: reads the first 200 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- Summarize PDF: reads the first 200 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- PDF to table: reads the first 200 pages in one run, and says so in the result when there are more.
- Screens that show the pages draw up to 300 pages when choosing pages, 100 for redaction and 50 for fill and sign. Pages beyond that can still be chosen by typing their numbers, and the search for words to redact covers every page.
Typed values
- Page numbers go up to 100000; a reversed range such as 5-2 is refused.
- A password that protects a PDF has at most 32 characters. Accents and other scripts work. A password of plain keyboard letters, digits and symbols opens in old PDF apps too; one with other characters is protected with stronger encryption, which PDF apps older than 2008 may not open.
Tools that guess are not 100% accurate
These tools read text or pictures and decide for you. They work well on most documents, but they can be wrong. Always open and check the result before you rely on it.
- Text recognition (OCR): Recognition is not 100% accurate: handwriting, faint or skewed scans and very small text cause mistakes. Check the text before you rely on search or copy.
- Rename invoices: Date, company and amount are guessed from the document's text and can be wrong. Check and correct the table before downloading; highlighted cells need a closer look.
- Black out (redact): The search only finds text the PDF holds as text; pages without text can be read first, but reading can miss words. Names, logos and handwriting are not found automatically, so draw over them. Open the result and check that nothing was missed.
- Remove blank pages: Blank pages are judged by how they look. A page with only faint text may be removed, and a blank page with specks may stay. Check the page numbers listed after the run.
- Crop PDF: Trimming white margins automatically decides where the content ends; faint lines, page numbers or specks can make it cut less, or more, than you expect. Check the result.
- Compare two PDFs: Differences can be missed, or marked where there are none. Comparing by text uses the text stored in the PDF, so choose appearance for scans. Files without text are compared page number by page number, so there a page added or removed puts the pages after it out of step.
- Fill and sign: Form fields are found automatically, but some PDFs build their forms in ways that cannot be filled here (XFA forms, fields drawn as plain lines). Open the downloaded file and check what you entered.
- Remove author info: Removes the title, author, software and dates stored in the file, what a camera wrote into its photos (such as where they were taken), comment authors and dates, attached files and scripts that run by themselves. It does not remove names written on the pages, what a photo shows, or what was typed into form fields.
- Protect with password: A password stops people who do not know it from opening the file. Anyone who knows it can copy, print or pass the content on, so share it carefully and choose a long password.
- Compress PDF: How much smaller a file gets depends on what is inside, and some files hardly shrink. Strong lowers photo quality, so keep Standard for printing.
Plans and licence keys
- Every tool is free for single runs. Chaining steps, batches, conditions, name rules and recipe files need Pro (or a 7-day pass); folder automation and run logs need Business. The 7-day pass works on this website only; automation with AI agents needs Pro or Business.
- A 7-day pass works on 1 device, Pro on up to 3, Business on up to 5. Pro and the 7-day pass are for the person who bought them; Business is for use within an office or team. To move a key, remove it on the pricing page of the device you no longer use (while online), then enter it on the new one.
- When online, the key is checked about once a day; a key the seller has disabled, or a subscription that has ended, stops working then. Paid features keep working offline, and a 7-day pass still ends on time.
Orihako does not guarantee that a result is correct or complete. For contracts, filings and documents with personal data, open the finished file and check it before you send or submit it.
