Japan's civil court e-filing system (mints) takes PDF, 50 MB a file (e-filing became mandatory for counsel in May 2026; as of September 2026, check the courts' guidance). This recipe merges briefs and exhibits into one PDF with a bookmark per file, adds running page numbers at the bottom centre for citations, flattens annotations and form fields, removes author data, compresses without quality loss and splits at 45 MB.
