Remove author info

Remove the hidden author name, title, dates and software name from a PDF before you send it.

Removes the title, author, software and dates stored in the file, what a camera wrote into its photos (such as where they were taken), comment authors and dates, attached files and scripts that run by themselves. It does not remove names written on the pages, what a photo shows, or what was typed into form fields.

Your files are never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Drop one PDF file.
  2. It starts as soon as the file is in. To keep attached files, choose Keep in the folded settings.
  3. Download the cleaned PDF. Your PDF app's document properties will show the author and title empty.

Questions and answers

What exactly is removed?

The document information (title, author, subject, keywords, software and dates), the hidden records apps leave behind, what a camera writes into a photo (where it was taken, the model, the owner's name), comment authors and dates, page thumbnails, attached files and scripts that run by themselves. A list of what went is shown when it is done. Page content, links, form fields and the words of comments are untouched.

Does it remove text or images on the pages?

No. Visible content is not touched. To hide text on the page for good, use Black out.

Can a viewer still tell which software made the file?

The software field is gone. The look of the text can still hint at the source, as with any PDF.
